With extensive experience in vertical systems, expedition logistics, and technical movement in difficult terrain, Dakota Walz supports scientific, conservation, and remote-production teams with rope access, consulting, and field operations.
Dakota is a writer, climber, rope access specialist, and 911 EMT based in the American West. His expeditions take him around the world in pursuit of first ascents, remote mountains, and complex objectives in austere environments. He has established nearly seven vertical miles of new climbing routes in twelve different countries.
His writing and photography document exploration, wild landscapes, and the people shaped by them. His work is featured in Alpinist, Summit Journal, The American Alpine Journal, and others where he focuses on long-form stories from the edge of adventure, science, and remote fieldwork.
